The case

From concern to outcome.

1

The concern

This patient had a full upper denture that was not functioning well.

2

The cause

The denture had no retention, so it was not staying securely in place.

3

What we did

We replaced it with a precision denture tailored to his specific jaw movements, giving the denture stability when he is chewing, talking or moving.

4

The outcome

The suction and function were not the only things he was happy about: his precision denture resembled his natural teeth.

Every patient is different. These cases describe individual experiences, and results vary. Your denturist will assess your needs before recommending an approach.

Frequently asked questions

Precision complete denture questions

What is a precision denture?

A precision (equilibrated) denture is made using extra records of how your jaw moves, so the bite stays balanced through chewing. This can improve stability and comfort.

Why do full dentures lose retention?

Gums and jawbone change shape over time, and an unbalanced bite can tip a denture. A reline, a new precision denture or implant support can restore retention.

Can I see a denturist about a similar problem?

Yes. Future Smiles offers free consultations at our Coral Springs (NE) and Macleod Trail (SW) clinics in Calgary. Call 403-475-0016 or book online.
