The case

From concern to outcome.

1

The concern

This patient had an ill-fitting, poorly functioning partial upper denture caused by wear and tear on her back teeth. She came to Future Smiles concerned that her natural lower front teeth were shifting.

2

The cause

The partial denture was producing an uneven bite force, which was putting excessive pressure on the lower teeth.

3

What we did

To stop that force and return function to her denture, we balanced her bite so pressure is spread evenly across all of her teeth.

4

The outcome

The patient was very happy with her improved smile and the reduction in pain.

Every patient is different. These cases describe individual experiences, and results vary. Your denturist will assess your needs before recommending an approach.

Frequently asked questions

Partial denture questions

How long do partial dentures take to make?

Most partial dentures take several appointments over a few weeks, including impressions, bite records, a try-in for eligible cases and delivery. Future Smiles makes them in our in-house Calgary lab.

Will a new partial protect my natural teeth?

A well-fitting partial with a balanced bite spreads chewing forces across your gums and remaining teeth, reducing uneven pressure on natural teeth. Regular check-ups keep it fitting well.

Can I see a denturist about a similar problem?

Yes. Future Smiles offers free consultations at our Coral Springs (NE) and Macleod Trail (SW) clinics in Calgary. Call 403-475-0016 or book online.
